Terms & Conditions

When building a house concert event website, the terms and conditions must carefully define the roles and liabilities of the platform, the hosts, and the musicians. Since events are held in private homes, the agreement needs to address unique risks such as property damage, liability, and the non-commercial nature of the events.

For all users

  • Waiver of liability: Find Your Groove is not liable for any injury, damage, or loss that occurs during a house concert.

  • Prohibited uses: Find Your Groove users cannot use the platform for unlawful purposes, to spam, or to interfere with the website's operation.

  • Dispute resolution: Find Your Groove is not a mediator for disputes between hosts and artists. Any issues that arise must be resolved between themselves.

  • Limitation of liability: Find Your Groove is limited from any financial liability to users to the fullest extent permitted by law.

For hosts

  • Non-commercial activity: Hosts must agree that they will not profit from the event, and any donations collected must go directly to the artist. This helps avoid violating local business or zoning laws and aligns with the Find Your Groove mission of supporting local artists.

  • Event responsibility: Hosts take full responsibility for organizing and running the event, including guest management and adhering to the event details they provide.

  • Privacy and promotion: Acknowledge that the host's address will remain private and not be publicly shared on the website.

  • Content and intellectual property: Promotional photos and/or videos may be requested from Find Your Groove after events to help build the community and share event experiences to be featured on the Find Your Groove website and social media.

  • Safety and liability: All event hosts acknowledge that they must carry adequate homeowners or event insurance and to take responsibility for guest safety and potential property damage.

For musicians

  • Performance and conduct: Artists must agree to perform as booked, behave professionally, and adhere to the agreed-upon performance schedule.

  • Payment terms: Performers will receive all donation funds from events performed, minus any service fees.

  • Merchandise sales: Artists are solely entitled to any of their merchandise sales, and Find Your Groove and event hosts are not involved in these transactions.

  • Indemnification: Artists are required to indemnify Find Your Groove and event hosts for any losses resulting from a breach of the agreement, such as failing to hold required insurance.

Risks that house concert website terms must address

  1. Event liability: Since concerts are held on private property, the risk of injury to attendees, artists, or property are the liability on the host and artist and require both parties to carry their own insurance.

  2. Regulatory compliance: It is the sole responsibility of the event host to comply with local laws regarding commercial activity, permits, and noise ordinances.

  3. Payment and cancellations: Unless the artist(s) or event host(s) must cancel an event due to emergency, no refunds are issued. In the event of cancellation by artist(s) or event host(s), a full refund will be issued via the platform where event reservations were made.
